On March 29, 2021, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that the opening date for the collection of 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 data will be April 26, 2021. The final deadline for employers to submit that data is July 19, 2021.
Employers with more than 100 employees are required to file EEO-1 data (workforce demographic information) annually. This requirement also applies to federal contractors with more than 50 employees. The EEOC delayed the opening of 2019 EEO-1 data collection due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, which makes it necessary for employers to submit EEO-1 data for both 2019 and 2020 this year.
Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect employers, the EEOC has extended the EEO-1 data collection period from 10 to 12 weeks. For additional information regarding the data collection, the EEOC recommends that employers visit EEOCdata.org.
